Family Finds Cat On Facebook After He’s Been Missing For 2 Years
Meet Jimmy, the cat who loved to go outside for adventures but would always come back to his owners – until one day he just didn’t return and it left his humans devastated. Jimmy’s parents never worried about him playing outside because he was a seasoned pro, and he never went very far. He liked to hang out in the driveway, visit the neighbors for treats and go on walks with his family and the dog. “He used to go in and out every day but always came back, except that one night,” Sue Zelitsky, said Jimmy’s mom. Every day, the Zelitsky family would frantically looking for their cat but with no luck. With each passing day, they slowly lost hope on ever seeing their beloved 13-year-old feline Jimmy again.
But a chance of face 2 1/2 years later, Sue saw a West Milford Animal Shelter’s Facebook post with a picture of a stray cat who had been pulled off streets…and he looked just exactly Jimmy! “He was found approximately 10 miles from our home after the big March blizzard and brought in to the [shelter],” Sue said. “After some sharing of pictures and other physical attributes I went to see him.”
“When they opened the crate door, I said, ‘Jimmy is that you, bud?’ and he walked over and head-butted me and smooshed his nose into the dog’s toy,” she said. “I immediately started to sob. He started to rub up against us, and when I was rubbing his belly he nipped me, which he always did.”
Yes, it was Jimmy! “We are over the moon,” Sue said. “It’s the greatest story ever and almost too good to be true…but it is!”

They lost all hope of seeing him ever again as 2 1/2 years went by…
And then one day, his owner saw Jimmy on a shelter’s Facebook page and rushed to meet him
“As soon as we opened the cage I asked him, ‘Jim, is that you bud?'”
“And he walked over and head-butted me and I just starting crying”. Finally, Jimmy’s back home!
We are glad this story has a happy ending and Jimmy has been reunited with his humans. Folks, just a reminder to microchip your fur babies if you let them roam outside and to never give up hope!
